CHER’S ASIAN ADVENTURE (a.k.a. FLIP FEST 2011)

I finally received the hard drive with my 2000+ pictures from my Asian adventure in January. I’m no photographer so I was really lucky to be traveling with one of the most talented people I know. I had no problem waiting a few weeks to have them sent to Los Angeles.

For those of you who don’t know, it took me over 30 years to plan a trip to the Philippines, let alone the Asia.

Yes, I admit, I’m a bad filipino and I remember being scolded by a cable guy for not going back “home”. FYI – I was born in Canada and can you please just stick to fixing my TV! I was soooo embarassed!

All these years, I travelled anywhere and every where including multiple trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States. But never the Philippines.

Why did it take me so long? What was I waiting for?

What I do know for sure, is that good things DO come to those who wait.

I will be choosing the best of my pics to share with you starting on Monday.

Prepare yourself to meet the real me.

It’s 12:51am here in LA…so I must head off to bed but I promise as of next week, you’ll get the dish from beginning to end.

KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!

I know it’s the year of the rabbit, so as a designer…I’m going to interpret this as lots of white and fur (faux of course) coming our way.

Since it’s Chinese New year, I’m reminiscing about my trip to Asia a few weeks ago.

Here are some of my favourite pics from my trip to Hong Kong.

The Coach store…I wish this came in a tile form. It would look perfect in my new place.

Well it did in Hong Kong where I was actually pretty dressed down compared to all the bold fashion statements that were being made.

FRANK GEHRY is a GOD!

Ever since I was 12 years old I knew that I wanted to be an architect. Unfortunately, my dream was shattered when I realized that physics was not my best subject. Luckily, I had a back up plan Interior Design

My love for architecture remained and I am constantly intrigued by one of the most amazing architects ever, ever FA-EVER EVER! FRANK GEHRY.

His latest masterpiece, the New World Symphony in Miami is absolutely gorgeous and because of that, I think he is a GOD! I’d like to say that I am a devoted follower and not a stalker. So even though I was raised a Catholic, I may need to convert to GEHRY-ISM (I’m just guessing that’s what it would be so don’t quote me!)

I wanted to thank you all for your emails and comments from my last post about RTR. For those of you that don’t know, unfortunately, we are not filming any new episodes. I know…it makes me sad too.

We designed 26 amazing episodes and I am thrilled that they are making a come back on BBC KIDS.

This is one of my designs and definitely one of my favourites!

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!

I’m back! Sorry, I was on vacation for the majority of January and still suffering from jet lag so I don’t trust myself to post a million things because my head is still a bit cloudy. I’ll be back to normal this week and I promise to post pics from my trip and my designer life in LA.

Anyhoo…it’s my BIRTHDAY today!

Guess how old I am?

Let’s just say that I’m in my thirties and I’m not a cougar but thanks to being Asian, I can still pass as a mature twenty. Hope this lasts forever

This is my favourite day of the year because I always get to connect with all of my friends and family, and now all of you!

Since I’m not in Toronto, I’d like to throw a world wide party and have everyone celebrate with me today. Make sure to go out and have a drink or two or three and have some fun!

I’m also sharing this day with OPRAH and Richard mom.

They are both amazing.

Today, I plan on spending my day doing the designer thing…a bit of propping for a shoot, a bit of writing and then a fun get together with some friends and a splash of champagne.

Tomorrow, it’s back to being a DESIGNER.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I’m definitely bringing in 2011, Asian style.

I started off my vacation by visiting my roots. I’m Filipino Canadian and I can’t believe it took me this long to check out my roots.

Since my internet connection is not the most reliable, I will be sending you quick notes and pics of my trip so far.

WHITE XMAS

It’s raining here in LA and I definitely miss seeing all of the layer of white powder that we call SNOW. The warm weather is fantastic, but the rain makes me think of wet blankets. NO please!

So I am dreaming of an all white Xmas to put me into the holiday spirit. If you like to leave things to the last minute (which I never do…ha) then here are a few things to add to your shopping list if you’re still thinking about what to buy that won’t break the bank.

You have less than a week people and at least you can say that “Cheryl” told you to do it in case they don’t like it. But that won’t happen
